The BeatStars team is thrilled to announce that we’ve partnered with THE #1 streaming platform - Twitch! Our exclusive partnership with Twitch comes with new and improved BeatStars Live shows, broadcasting every weekday from 2-4 PM EST starting on June 1, 2022, along with a spot on the Twitch homepage every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
“We’re super excited to be partnering with Twitch for BeatStars’ next generation of live programming,” says BeatStars CEO Abe Batshon. “Twitch has played an important role in how we communicate with our community over the last several years. This pairing is a symbiotic one as both platforms constantly work on new ways to support creators, especially the underserved independent artist and music producer communities.”
Our curated Twitch programming will serve as a platform to turn the lens onto our community of creators that have made BeatStars a vibrant musical ecosystem. Viewers can expect an array of industry-grade opportunities to come with each live show, opening doors for connection building and professional success.
The channel will kick off on Wednesday, June 1 with ‘Battle of the Beats’, a weekly beat competition hosted by BeatStars team members, Anjanette Lanae and Owen Postma. Programming will continue into Thursday with the channel’s second competition show, ‘Cyber Cypher,’ where BeatStars will welcome vocalists to showcase their talents. The addition of these shows will offer rising producers and vocalists the chance to win prizes including playlisting, song reposts, cash, and equipment to enhance their careers. Launch week will conclude with ‘Buy My Beat Friday’, hosted by BeatStars Founder, Abe Batshon and special guest Guapdad 4000.
Be on the lookout for additional programming coming soon, including ‘Made on BeatStars’ hosted by ArtistPro Found Hisham Dahud and ‘Looped In’, a live production music segment featuring a guest producer of the day, hosted by DJ Pain 1.
Female representation in the music industry has remained bleak as the number ratio of female artists has been known to drop over the years. According to a USC study conducted from 2012 to 2022, women comprised a total 21.6% of all artists, 12.6% of all songwriters, and 2.6% of all producers. Across the nine-year sample, statistics for women of color producers looked especially grim as researchers found a 180:1 ratio of non-white female producers to white male producers.
This National Women’s History Month, we’re tackling those startling gender ratios with action and inciting much-needed industry change with Girls Make Beats.

On April 9th, 1968, Stevie Wonder flew to Atlanta for Martin Luther Jr.'s funeral, joining tens of thousands of people, including Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross, Harry Belafonte, and a long list of civil rights leaders and politicians. The teen music sensation was in shock, having experienced first-hand the vileness of segregation and racism. Wonder's journey of overcoming the resistance of conservative politicians and citizens began that day as he joined his local representative John Conyers at King's funeral. Conyers had just introduced a bill to honor King and his legacy by making his birthday a national holiday. Over the next few decades, Wonder would put his career on hold, leading coast-to-coast rallies and inspiring hundreds of thousands of Americans to join his efforts in getting Martin Luther King Jr the recognition and respect he deserved.
In support of the push to make Martin Luther King Jr's birthday a national holiday, Stevie Wonder composed his ground-breaking song, 'Happy Birthday,' celebrating King's life. The song became the centerpiece of Wonder's album 'Hotter Than July.' The record's vinyl sleeve design featured a large photograph of MLK Jr. and a passage encouraging fans to support the holiday bill. 'Happy Birthday' rings with Wonder lamenting that anyone would oppose King's birthday becoming a national holiday.
You know it doesn't make much sense
There ought to be a law against
Anyone who takes offense
At a day in your celebration 'cause we all know in our minds
That there ought to be a time
That we can set aside
To show just how much we love you
And I'm sure you would agree
What could fit more perfectly
Than to have a world party on the day you came to be
….
Why has there never been a holiday
Where peace is celebrated
All throughout the world
The time is overdue
For people like me and you
Who know the way to truth
Is love and unity to all God's children
After years of performing 'Happy Birthday,' rallying, and raising support for the push to make MLK Day a national holiday, reluctant President Ronald Reagan, who initially preached opposition to the bill, signed the bill into law in November of 1983 after the bill passed 78 to 22 in the Senate.
We thank Stevie Wonder, along with the thousands of supporters and social rights activists, for the hard work and dedication they put forth to make Martin Luther King Jr Day a national holiday. Take a moment out of your day to blast Stevie Wonder's 'Happy Birthday' and celebrate Martin Luther King Jr's legacy that he left on America's past, present, and future.

It’s time you knew WHERE your music’s going, and BeatStars’ feature Beat ID is here to help you in that search! Beat ID is a revolutionary content identification system that empowers creators with data and information regarding where and how their copyrights are being used across the social web. This unlocks an endless stream of opportunities for the original owner, from setting up collaborative meet-ups to taking back your ownership.
With the Beat ID tool, simply upload a beat or song, and we’ll scan a number of platforms including Youtube, Facebook, Twitch, Instagram, Reddit, TikTok, and more. We’ll then link you to every place it appears on these platforms the following Saturday after your track upload.
PLEASE NOTE: Beat ID searches will take place every month as it takes time to accurately scan the depths of the web. Once your report is ready, we'll send you an email.
Once processed, Beat ID categorizes your matches into seven different match types - exact match, full match, partial match, and snippets - telling you exactly how much of your asset has been used by an outside party. The next steps are up to you, whether that be reaching out to the song user to entice collaboration or receiving your credit where it’s due.
To learn even more about Beat ID and how you can use this tool, check out our official Beat ID tutorial video, or read more about the tool in our official blog, ‘The 101 on Beat ID’

Recognizing the confidence, creativity, and discipline that access to a music education can instill, BeatStars is teaming up with organizations Girls Rock Austin and KING (Partnerships for Children) to help provide more music resources to children in the Central Texas area.
Girls Rock Austin and Kids in a New Groove are now officially Beats4Love organizations, which means anyone in the BeatStars community can help bring music education to kids in need simply by selling their beats and services. BeatStars has also committed $10,000 to this initiative.
Beginning in 2007, Girls Rock Austin has worked to improve the music community through youth camps and aid initiatives. From virtual programs to charity music festivals to Rock Retreats, Girls Rock Austin has opportunities for musicians of all ages and experience levels.
Inspired by the need to give young girls the ability to see themselves represented in all areas of the music industry, Girls Rock’s camp offers education in music skills as well as STEM related subjects, self-care and social justice. Taught by women, trans and non-binary musicians in Austin, Texas, students can learn how to express themselves through guitar, bass, keyboards, drums, and vocals in a variety of genres and styles.
Furthermore, the organization’s Operation: Lunch Box efforts help provide access to nutritious meals to the Austin community who have been affected by food insecurity during the pandemic. Since the program began, Girls Rock Austin has helped provide over 100,000 meals to those in need.

On Tuesday, March 16, eight people of Asian descent, six of which were women, were killed in Atlanta-area massage parlors. While this was the tipping point, it certainly wasn’t a one-off, random occurrence. The fact is, rising rates of anti-Asian violence have dramatically increased in the United States since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. In 2020, anti-Asian hate crimes surged by 149%, and roughly 3,800 hate crimes against Asians were reported between March 19, 2020, and February 28, 2021. Most of these crimes were against women and the elderly.
Here’s the thing. If you’re a part of the BeatStars Community, you should also be a part of the bigger movement that’s working towards dismantling racism, xenophobia, race-related hate crimes, and the perpetuation of racial stereotypes. BeatStars does not condone racism, hate crimes, and the targeting of our Asian American and Pacific Islanders (AAPI).
America has racist roots and a lot of work to do. Much like our call to support Black Lives Matter and related organizations over the last year, we’re calling on our community to support organizations against Asian hate and to act as an ally in tearing down racist stereotypes and educating others of the horrible events occurring to the Asian community.
Here’s how you can be an ally to the Asian-American community, and how you can be a proactive dismantler of racism in America.
When you donate to an organization with a strong mission, you help make a difference that’s often hard to make with your own hands. Social justice organizations not only work to achieve their mission, but they also help empower individuals to effect change. There are a number of organizations you can donate to in order to help support Asian Americans, Pacific Islanders, and Asian immigrants.
STOP AAPI HATE
STOP APPI HATE tracks and responds to incidents of hate, violence, harassment, discrimination, shunning, and child bullying against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in the United States.
APF’S mission is to strengthen the Asian and Pacific Islander community in the Bay Area by increasing philanthropy and supporting the organizations that serve our most vulnerable community members.
ASIAN AMERICANS ADVANCING JUSTICE
You can now donate to Asian Americans Advancing Justice through Beats4Love. AAAJ’s mission is to advance civil and human rights for Asian Americans and to build and promote a fair and equitable society for all.
API EQUALITY - NORTHERN CALIFORNIA
APIENC builds queer and transgender Asian and Pacific Islander power to amplify our voices and increase the visibility of our communities.
ASIAN PACIFIC ENVIRONMENTAL NETWORK
APEN is building the power of Asian communities on the frontlines to stop big polluters from poisoning our families and destabilizing our climate.
Posting educational infographics to your Instagram story is one thing, but are you actively learning yourself? Are you helping the AAPI community out by sitting down with your friends and family to ensure they understand the escalation and problem of these hate crimes occurring in America? Adding a graphic to your story is one thing, but ensuring you have a clear and full understanding of what’s happening and how you (and your personal connections) can help is a whole other side of the coin. You’re already being proactive by simply reading this article, so thank you. Now take these resources and spread the word to those around you.
Here are some additional articles you can read to learn more about what’s going on:

On June 19, 1865, slavery came to an end under an order issued in Texas by a Union general, but the announcement came more than two years after Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation. With nearly four million enslaved black men, women and children granted freedom, 250,000 black people remained enslaved in Texas, unaware of their freedom, with former enslavers hiding the news.
On June 19, federal troops arrived in Texas to ensure freedom of all enslaved, but celebration was not soon to come. Though General Granger arrived with the news that “all slaves are free,” it came with a caveat, as Granger continued, “The freedmen are advised to remain quietly at their present homes and work for wages. They are informed that they will not be allowed to collect at military posts and that they will not be supported in idleness either there or elsewhere.” Former slave owners grasped at systems of societal oppression as a means to stunt the losses of their immoral trade, as Black Americans struggled for equal and deserved liberties not granted alongside their freedom. Slowly Juneteenth celebrations grew year to year, eventually seeing observation as an official Texas holiday to being celebrated nationwide.
The institution and system that took place before the emancipation of African Americans in the United States is horrific. While Juneteenth is a day of commemoration and rejoicing, it is also a time for assessment, education, and continuing to push for systemic change. There’s no “correct” way to celebrate Juneteenth, but if you’re looking for ideas, here are some ways you can celebrate Juneteenth in 2021 and beyond.
“Lift Every Voice and Sing” is one of the most cherished songs of the African American Civil Rights Movement and is often referred to as the Black National Anthem. The hymn was initially written as a poem by NAACP leader James Weldon Johnson in 1900. His brother, John Rosamond Johnson, composed the music for the lyrics. A choir of 500 schoolchildren at the segregated Stanton school, where James Weldon Johnson was principal, first performed the song in public in Jacksonville, Florida to celebrate Abraham Lincoln's birthday.
At the turn of the 20th century, Johnson's lyrics eloquently captured the solemn yet hopeful appeal for the liberty of Black Americans. Set against the religious invocation of God and the promise of freedom, the song was later adopted by NAACP and prominently used as a rallying cry during the Civil Rights Movement of the 1950s and 1960s.
Alicia Keys performed a beautiful rendition of the song at the 2020 NFL kickoff. Listen below.

We’ve compiled a list of 10 Ground-Breaking Black Creators you can show your support to as you go about your Juneteenth celebrations and beyond.
CEO and Founder Abe Batshon set out to solve a major problem in the music industry - the exploitation of Producers by major music corporations and labels. As a solution to that problem, BeatStars was born to empower producers, put them in control, and help them earn the royalties and recognition that they deserve.
BeatStars strived to encourage beat makers to build a brand around their sound and effectively monetize their beats. Over a decade later, BeatStars has helped thousands of producers earn a living doing what they love. It all started with a mission to empower creatives who hold a passion for music.
BeatStars was built for the writer, the performer, the beatmaker, the producer, the artist, and the creator. We value musicians and are obsessed with offering more technology to help them grow their music business.
Our goal was the same from the beginning; to give creators control over their music careers.
BeatStars’ focus on beat licensing allows producers to monetize their beats effectively while offering fair prices to artists. It’s a win-win situation. Producers are able to fully customize their license agreements and prices, giving beat makers complete control over the monetization of their music. Artists are able to purchase beat leases at a much lower price point rather than spending thousands of dollars on an exclusive beat. This business model has led to the success of thousands of independent producers.
It’s not uncommon to see a single beat generate a producer over $10,000 in revenue. When producers utilize the platform to build a following and a loyal customer base, the sky's the limit. There are countless producers on the BeatStars platform that have amassed dedicated fan bases. Some of these producers have little to no industry connections, yet they have droves of loyal listeners who consistently support their music. These are the producers that make BeatStars such a special platform. Every producer that’s part of the BeatStars community is an example of how any producer can take control and establish their own successful music business.
BeatStars was the starting point for some of the most successful producers in the music industry, including 30Hertz (Medicine x Queen Naija), Mantra (Selfish x Future ft. Rihanna), and The Cratez (I’m Not a Racist x Joyner Lucas). Certified Platinum producer, Mantra, got his start selling beats on BeatStars. After establishing his brand and developing his sound, Mantra went on to work with some of the biggest names in the industry such as Future, Rihanna, Bad Bunny, NeYo, and many more. After establishing their career on BeatStars, producers like Mantra are able to move beyond BeatStars and dominate the music industry.
In 2020, BeatStars introduced publishing services to the global BeatStars community of writers, producers, and artists. As a result, Producers like DeeMarc (When You Down x Lil Tecca), Lil H (Don’t Need Time x Hot Boii), JTRAXX (Drogba x Afro B & Ozuna), BabyBotBeatz (), Beat Demons (B. Young, PhoraBad Bunny, NBC SNL), Dreamlife (Snoop Dogg, Logic), Dystinkt (Lil Tecca, Lil Tjay), Tantu Beats (Higher Brothers, Joost), and many more went on to become Sony/ATV publishing signees.
As more and more producers join the platform and are welcomed into the BeatStars family, more groundbreaking waves will be made in the music industry. Thousands of producers are using BeatStars to follow a passion for music to make a living doing it, and so can you.
Creators on BeatStars are spread out all over the world, from San Francisco to Africa, but fortunately there’s a special place where our community can come closer together. We’re excited to now announce that BeatStars is on Discord!
