Every company needs a "refresh" now and then for its branding, but BeatStars has a much bigger purpose for doing so.
After a lot of time and thought, we've decided to change our logo. We know you love our current logo and the brand recognition it already has, but we saw an opportunity to change and evolve. Change is necessary, and companies are meant to grow. If we never changed, we would still be here:
But because change happened, we were able to get here:
"This new change in the BeatStars logo signifies entering a new era for the brand, company, and community. BeatStars is constantly experiencing a natural evolution of change within the organization, and every few years, a new logo enters our universe to provide the team and community with new life, a new story, a new start, and a new purpose to be inspired by. This logo iteration from BeatStars' own Gabe Bo is relevant to the re-focused lens that BeatStars is seeing the world in today. Our mission is to continue improving our product and ourselves to meet the goal of serving our community everywhere. This logo provides a more balanced, polished, and symbolic representation of where the brand stands today. I'm so excited for this new chapter in the history of BeatStars, as we continue moving forward waving the BeatStars flag for our creators around the globe." - Abe Batshon, Founder & CEO
Our designers realized there was more to BeatStars' story, which needed to be reflected in our branding. We concluded our logo needed to be:
Our designers also noticed our current logo wasn't perfectly symmetrical, so we made some technical graphic design changes. In turn, we were able to add more significance to the meaning behind our design. They approached the BeatStars team with a new design that gave our logo PURPOSE. So, without further ado, here it is:
To get a better understanding, we want to share the concept and story created by BeatStars Designer Gabe Bo.
"The concept can be understood as a big star who supports - or picks, chooses, extends a hand to - an enclosed smaller one, referencing the artist/producer relationship on the platform. Crazy as it sounds, the quality of the logo (or a trademark) is determined by human perception. Usually, a good logo is represented by a symbol that recalls a company or a service that can be easily recognized and remembered even under competitive visual contexts (such as darkness, distance, size, among many other objects, etc.) So I wanted the logo to build up its presence by being simple, distinct, and appropriate. That means something that you'll look at once, and because it's so simple to identify, you could even doodle it yourself. It doesn't need to communicate or be beautiful. It just needs to identify efficiently. It just needs to work." - Gabe Bo, Webflow Specialist
Erin Foster, Senior Marketing Manager at BeatStars, also added,
"We knew we wanted to update our logo and give it meaning, but we really wanted to maintain the recognition of the BeatStars brand, so we gave it a subtle change but one that gave it purpose."
As a company, there will always be changes to some degree, but our mission will remain the same: to empower music creators and help them make a living off of their music. We strongly feel our new logo represents that same message and are excited to take a new step in BeatStars' journey with our community. We hope you like our new logo as much as we do.

Female representation in the music industry has remained bleak as the number ratio of female artists has been known to drop over the years. According to a USC study conducted from 2012 to 2022, women comprised a total 21.6% of all artists, 12.6% of all songwriters, and 2.6% of all producers. Across the nine-year sample, statistics for women of color producers looked especially grim as researchers found a 180:1 ratio of non-white female producers to white male producers.
This National Women’s History Month, we’re tackling those startling gender ratios with action and inciting much-needed industry change with Girls Make Beats.
Girls Make Beats is a not-for-profit organization that empowers girls by expanding the female presence of music producers, DJs, and audio engineers. Girls Make Beats (GMB) works with girls ages 5-17 and hosts educational seminars, summer camps, industry panels, and networking events. GMB helps girls further their careers as music producers, DJs, and audio engineers by providing courses on industry-leading hardware and software. GMB also serves as an outlet for girls to unite and collaborate within the music industry.
With a presence growing globally, Girls Make Beats ® is dedicated to creating real-world opportunities for girls to break barriers in the music industry.

On April 9th, 1968, Stevie Wonder flew to Atlanta for Martin Luther Jr.'s funeral, joining tens of thousands of people, including Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross, Harry Belafonte, and a long list of civil rights leaders and politicians. The teen music sensation was in shock, having experienced first-hand the vileness of segregation and racism. Wonder's journey of overcoming the resistance of conservative politicians and citizens began that day as he joined his local representative John Conyers at King's funeral. Conyers had just introduced a bill to honor King and his legacy by making his birthday a national holiday. Over the next few decades, Wonder would put his career on hold, leading coast-to-coast rallies and inspiring hundreds of thousands of Americans to join his efforts in getting Martin Luther King Jr the recognition and respect he deserved.
In support of the push to make Martin Luther King Jr's birthday a national holiday, Stevie Wonder composed his ground-breaking song, 'Happy Birthday,' celebrating King's life. The song became the centerpiece of Wonder's album 'Hotter Than July.' The record's vinyl sleeve design featured a large photograph of MLK Jr. and a passage encouraging fans to support the holiday bill. 'Happy Birthday' rings with Wonder lamenting that anyone would oppose King's birthday becoming a national holiday.
You know it doesn't make much sense
There ought to be a law against
Anyone who takes offense
At a day in your celebration 'cause we all know in our minds
That there ought to be a time
That we can set aside
To show just how much we love you
And I'm sure you would agree
What could fit more perfectly
Than to have a world party on the day you came to be
….
Why has there never been a holiday
Where peace is celebrated
All throughout the world
The time is overdue
For people like me and you
Who know the way to truth
Is love and unity to all God's children
After years of performing 'Happy Birthday,' rallying, and raising support for the push to make MLK Day a national holiday, reluctant President Ronald Reagan, who initially preached opposition to the bill, signed the bill into law in November of 1983 after the bill passed 78 to 22 in the Senate.
We thank Stevie Wonder, along with the thousands of supporters and social rights activists, for the hard work and dedication they put forth to make Martin Luther King Jr Day a national holiday. Take a moment out of your day to blast Stevie Wonder's 'Happy Birthday' and celebrate Martin Luther King Jr's legacy that he left on America's past, present, and future.

It’s time you knew WHERE your music’s going, and BeatStars’ feature Beat ID is here to help you in that search! Beat ID is a revolutionary content identification system that empowers creators with data and information regarding where and how their copyrights are being used across the social web. This unlocks an endless stream of opportunities for the original owner, from setting up collaborative meet-ups to taking back your ownership.
With the Beat ID tool, simply upload a beat or song, and we’ll scan a number of platforms including Youtube, Facebook, Twitch, Instagram, Reddit, TikTok, and more. We’ll then link you to every place it appears on these platforms the following Saturday after your track upload.
PLEASE NOTE: Beat ID searches will take place every month as it takes time to accurately scan the depths of the web. Once your report is ready, we'll send you an email.
Once processed, Beat ID categorizes your matches into seven different match types - exact match, full match, partial match, and snippets - telling you exactly how much of your asset has been used by an outside party. The next steps are up to you, whether that be reaching out to the song user to entice collaboration or receiving your credit where it’s due.
To learn even more about Beat ID and how you can use this tool, check out our official Beat ID tutorial video, or read more about the tool in our official blog, ‘The 101 on Beat ID’

Recognizing the confidence, creativity, and discipline that access to a music education can instill, BeatStars is teaming up with organizations Girls Rock Austin and KING (Partnerships for Children) to help provide more music resources to children in the Central Texas area.
Girls Rock Austin and Kids in a New Groove are now officially Beats4Love organizations, which means anyone in the BeatStars community can help bring music education to kids in need simply by selling their beats and services. BeatStars has also committed $10,000 to this initiative.
Beginning in 2007, Girls Rock Austin has worked to improve the music community through youth camps and aid initiatives. From virtual programs to charity music festivals to Rock Retreats, Girls Rock Austin has opportunities for musicians of all ages and experience levels.
Inspired by the need to give young girls the ability to see themselves represented in all areas of the music industry, Girls Rock’s camp offers education in music skills as well as STEM related subjects, self-care and social justice. Taught by women, trans and non-binary musicians in Austin, Texas, students can learn how to express themselves through guitar, bass, keyboards, drums, and vocals in a variety of genres and styles.
Furthermore, the organization’s Operation: Lunch Box efforts help provide access to nutritious meals to the Austin community who have been affected by food insecurity during the pandemic. Since the program began, Girls Rock Austin has helped provide over 100,000 meals to those in need.

On Tuesday, March 16, eight people of Asian descent, six of which were women, were killed in Atlanta-area massage parlors. While this was the tipping point, it certainly wasn’t a one-off, random occurrence. The fact is, rising rates of anti-Asian violence have dramatically increased in the United States since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. In 2020, anti-Asian hate crimes surged by 149%, and roughly 3,800 hate crimes against Asians were reported between March 19, 2020, and February 28, 2021. Most of these crimes were against women and the elderly.
Here’s the thing. If you’re a part of the BeatStars Community, you should also be a part of the bigger movement that’s working towards dismantling racism, xenophobia, race-related hate crimes, and the perpetuation of racial stereotypes. BeatStars does not condone racism, hate crimes, and the targeting of our Asian American and Pacific Islanders (AAPI).
America has racist roots and a lot of work to do. Much like our call to support Black Lives Matter and related organizations over the last year, we’re calling on our community to support organizations against Asian hate and to act as an ally in tearing down racist stereotypes and educating others of the horrible events occurring to the Asian community.
Here’s how you can be an ally to the Asian-American community, and how you can be a proactive dismantler of racism in America.
When you donate to an organization with a strong mission, you help make a difference that’s often hard to make with your own hands. Social justice organizations not only work to achieve their mission, but they also help empower individuals to effect change. There are a number of organizations you can donate to in order to help support Asian Americans, Pacific Islanders, and Asian immigrants.
STOP AAPI HATE
STOP APPI HATE tracks and responds to incidents of hate, violence, harassment, discrimination, shunning, and child bullying against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in the United States.
APF’S mission is to strengthen the Asian and Pacific Islander community in the Bay Area by increasing philanthropy and supporting the organizations that serve our most vulnerable community members.
ASIAN AMERICANS ADVANCING JUSTICE
You can now donate to Asian Americans Advancing Justice through Beats4Love. AAAJ’s mission is to advance civil and human rights for Asian Americans and to build and promote a fair and equitable society for all.
API EQUALITY - NORTHERN CALIFORNIA
APIENC builds queer and transgender Asian and Pacific Islander power to amplify our voices and increase the visibility of our communities.
ASIAN PACIFIC ENVIRONMENTAL NETWORK
APEN is building the power of Asian communities on the frontlines to stop big polluters from poisoning our families and destabilizing our climate.
Posting educational infographics to your Instagram story is one thing, but are you actively learning yourself? Are you helping the AAPI community out by sitting down with your friends and family to ensure they understand the escalation and problem of these hate crimes occurring in America? Adding a graphic to your story is one thing, but ensuring you have a clear and full understanding of what’s happening and how you (and your personal connections) can help is a whole other side of the coin. You’re already being proactive by simply reading this article, so thank you. Now take these resources and spread the word to those around you.
Here are some additional articles you can read to learn more about what’s going on:
NPR: Atlanta-Area Spa Shootings Spur Debate Over Hate Crime Label
Reuters: For Asian-Americans, Atlanta shooting sows fresh fear after a year of mounting discrimination
New York Times: Asian-Americans were targeted in nearly 3,800 hate incidents in the past year
