Revisit and Write Down Your Goals
Thinking about and writing down your goals is kind of like having your Navigation App open on your phone as you’re driving to your destination. It gives you a clear idea of where you’ll end up, and helps you stay en route. According to a 2015 Harvard Business study:
- 83% of the population does not have goals
- 14% have a plan in mind, but did not write down their goals
- 3% have goals written down
The study went on to find that the 14% who have goals are 10 times more successful than those without goals. The 3% with written goals are 3 times more successful than the 14% with unwritten goals.

Audit Your Offerings and Music on BeatStars
Just like it’s important to deep clean your house every now and then, it’s equally as important to clean out your music store and marketplace! Enter the new year with a clean slate by revisiting your pricing, auditing your active coupon codes, testing any hyperlinks that live on your site, and organizing your inbox. The turn of the year is a great time to reset yourself and your music store, so take the month of December to scour every detail of your webpage and music store to check for outdated listings, licenses, and pricing.
Start with the following as you go about your audit:
- Tracks (description, pricing, and tags)
- Licenses (language and pricing)
- Pricing (increase or lower)
- Inbox (respond or archive)
Find Inspiration and Motivation
It’s hard to do the nitty gritty of resetting your music business if you’re lacking the motivation to do so! Kickstart your drive by watching motivational videos or reading inspirational stories. Get your shot of inspiration by watching some of the videos we recommend:

Make a Monthly Game Plan
One of the best ways to stay on track of your marketing and business plans is to think ahead. At the beginning of each month, sit down with intent and draft up an idea of what you’d like to focus on and achieve during that month. It can be as simple as:
- Collaborate with another creator
- Make three TikToks a week to help market my music
- Submit music to three open playlist opportunities
- Create a beat that’s a different genre than I’m used to
- Create a Spring break playlist
- Sign up for BeatStars Publishing
