SoundCloud strikes licensing deal with UMG

HOORAY! Our valued partner SoundCloud has made a lot of huge strides in the last 30 days to make their platform more lucrative for creators and labels. Right before Christmas (2015) they settled a lawsuit with PRS which was preventing them from completing licensing deals with the major publishers. With Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group and over 20,000 labels (including BeatStars) on-board for the OnSoundCloud monetization program it is going to make life extremely easier for BeatStars content creators to monetize their works much faster.

As you know, BeatStars has been an OnSoundCloud partner for over 6 months now and have garnered over 4,000 channels and 100,000 tracks in its SoundCloud network. Unfortunately because of the rights and licensing issues with the major publishers, only a few thousand tracks have been earning ad-revenue for our creator community. But do not fear, SoundCloud has assured us, that due to this landmark deal the monetization process for independent distributors like ourselves will be much more efficient and speedier very soon.

We at BeatStars want to thank all of our members for their patience during the BETA stage of this program and we believe this is going to be a huge step forward for the independent music community. We also want to congratulate SoundCloud on their historic feat and are looking forward to seeing what 2016 will have in store for our members.

As SoundCloud prepares to open their BETA monetization program please continue to be patient for more news. If you have any questions about this and it affects your opted-in music. Please contact our support team:
